INTRODUCTION

Drayton Village Pre-School has been in existence for over 35 years and is one of the longest established pre-schools in the area. It has good facilities, fully qualified and experienced staff and is run in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and the Norfolk Early Years Network.

It is a registered charity, non-profit making and is run by a committee made up of parents of children attending Pre-School.

Parents are actively encouraged to get involved in policy making, fund raising and helping out at Pre-School via the parents rota.

AIMS

  1. To offer a safe, caring environment in which children are given as many learning opportunities as possible. To do this we endeavour to use all our equipment and resources on a regular basis.
  2. To encourage individual children’s development by a carefully chosen curriculum in line with SCAA recommendations including early maths, language and literacy, personal and social development and knowledge, physical and creative development.
  3. To promote equal opportunities for girls and boys and those with special needs. Both boys and girls are encouraged to make full use of dressing up clothes, construction toys, physical equipment as well as drawing and gardening.

(N.B. There is no Pre-School on the 1st Friday of each month)

STAFFING

Drayton Village Pre-School currently employs 7 members of staff; 2 supervisors and 5 assistants. At each session there is 1 supervisor and 4 assistants. There is a maximum of 26 children per session and the adult/child ratio is 1:5.

If there are more children wishing to join Pre-School than places are available, then selection is on an age basis (with preference given to older children) and those with special needs.

Staff regularly undertake training on all aspects of Pre-School provision.

Pre-School holds one open day per year for prospective families to visit and talk to the staff and committee members.

Parents are also welcome to visit during a session where they are able to read the Pre-School policies and latest OFSTED inspection report.

KEYWORKER SYSTEM

Each child has a designated member of staff responsible for liasing with the child’s family to discuss any problems and to see the needs of each child are identified and met within the framework of the Pre-School.

ADMISSIONS POLICY

Pre-School is open to every family in the community. Children must be a minimum of 3 years of age during the term they are admitted to Pre-school.

For those children not quite ready to join Pre-School we have a 2+ session on a Monday afternoon so children and Mums can join in the fun and get to know each other.

Pre-School welcomes children with special needs and staff are trained to help children with a wide range of disabilities to participate and enjoy Pre-School activities to their full potential.

FEES

Fees are payable half termly in advance and confidential arrangements are made at the discretion of the treasurer for any families experiencing financial difficulty.

The Pre-School is registered to receive the Government funding for Pre-School education.
